Mohamed Salah sent internet sleuths into their latest frenzy on Monday with a cryptic social media post following Liverpool‘s 2-2 draw with Manchester United.

The Egyptian, who is one of three Reds stars out of contract in the summer, scored his 18th Premier League goal of the season in the thrilling draw against the Red Devils.

As the clock ticks down on his current deal, speculation over his future has intensified. The same can be said for Virgil van Dijk and especially Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was the subject of a £20million bid by Real Madrid last week.

It therefore makes Salah’s post on X, formerly Twitter, noteworthy. The 32-year-old uploaded an image of himself and Alexander-Arnold deliberating over a free kick during Sunday’s game, while Van Dijk can be seen in the background.

The forward did not accompany the image with a caption, adding further intrigue.

Liverpool supporters made their feelings known on the situation ahead of the showdown against Ruben Amorim‘s side, as some fans unfurled a banner in the Kop urging the club’s owners to tie the trio down to new deals.

Liverpool fans made their feelings known on the ongoing contractual uncertainty of their three stars

The banner depicted the faces of the three players alongside the caption: ‘FSG Give Mo & Co their dough’.

Liverpool fans reacting to the banner online praised those inside the ground for taking a stand against the club’s ownership with one post on X stating: ‘Fans making it clear—pay Salah and the team what they deserve.’

Another similarly added: ‘Fans are making their voices heard in the Kop… The message is clear: FSG, give Mo and the team what they deserve.’

Salah has been the most vocal of the trio on the ongoing situation. He shocked supporters in December when he revealed that he had not received an offer from the club and claimed to be a disappointed by the process.

He has also made reference to this being his final season with the side. In an interview with Sky Sports last week, when asked if he truly believes this will be his last year at Anfield, he said: ‘So far, yes. It’s the last six months. There is no progress there.’

By contrast, Alexander-Arnold has remained silent on his situation but that hasn’t stopped intense speculation, especially after his uncharacteristically poor showing against United.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher even went as far as to claim on Sunday that the player or his representatives encouraged Madrid to submit a bid last week.

‘They’re bullies, Real Madrid. My problem with it is, they have bid on the back of Trent Alexander-Arnold or his agent saying “put a bid in”. Because they wouldn’t put a bid in, they wouldn’t do that unless they get the say so,’ Carragher told the Gary Neville Podcast.

Trent Alexander-Arnold faced criticism for his performance just days after he was the subject of a £20million bid by Real Madrid

Reds legend Jamie Carragher said that he believes the player or his representatives encouraged the proposal

‘But all those parties know Liverpool are going to turn that down anyway, so what are you trying to create? What noise are you (trying to make)? Liverpool are not going to sell Trent in January going for a league title.

‘What I’m saying is, let’s not be naive here. No one puts bids in now unless they’ve already spoken to the player about it. If it gets accepted, would you come? People know before they put bids in.

‘And there’s obviously been talks. I’ve got no problem with that – that’s the nature of the game. Trent’s contract situation, I’m sure he’s in talks with Real Madrid and maybe other players and he’s got a decision to make.

‘I think for that to come out when it did, I was not happy about that at all. For me, we’re probably not the best people to speak to about this because we’ve never been involved in a transfer and we’re probably two of the biggest club men who always put the club first.

‘But I just think, the situation Liverpool are in, there’s no way an agent or Trent Alexander-Arnold don’t know that bid is going in before it goes in. And if you don’t want that to go in, you say no.’

As for the captain Van Dijk, it has been reported that the 33-year-old is keen to remain with the club he joined from Southampton seven years ago.
