MSNBC Host Calls Event That Trump Hosted Before Jan. 6 Anniversary ‘Sickening’

According to The New York Times, the president-elect and allies, including fellow election deniers Rudy Giuliani and Peter Navarro, an ex-convict who will once again work for Trump in his new administration, gathered at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday to watch “The Eastman Dilemma: Lawfare or Justice.” The film covered Eastman’s push to pressure then Vice President Mike Pence to stop the certification of Joe Biden’s victory over Trump on Jan. 6, 2021, under the debunked assertion that he had the right to do so.

Trump reportedly praised the disgraced lawyer for being “right” at the get-together, which was blasted for its “audaciousness” by former RNC chair and MSNBC panelist Michael Steele.

But Sanders Townsend had perhaps the most passionate response on Sunday’s “The Weekend”.

“This is sickening,” the host said. “This is sickening. I am sick.”

“What Donalddid last night is a disgrace to this country,” Sanders Townsend said. “It is a disgrace to the Constitution.”

“It wasn’t just some party,” she added. “They’re letting you know where their values are, what they think, and frankly, that if the president-elect was not successful in this last election, that they would have done it again.”

Monday’s certification of Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to occur without too much fuss ― under her auspices. Four years ago, that was not the case. A pro-Trump mob, buying into his lies that the election was stolen, stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to subvert the peaceful transfer of power.
