Linda De Sousa Abreu, 30, has been jailed for 15 months after she was filmed being intimate with a prisoner in a cell at HMP Wandsworth, in south London, while in uniform
A married prison officer who was caught on camera mocking her ankle tag after admitting to a steamy affair with an inmate has been jailed for 15 months. Linda De Sousa Abreu, 30, appeared at Isleworth Crown Court in July after pleading guilty to misconduct in a public office.
The scandal erupted when a video surfaced on social media the previous month, showing a female guard at HMP Wandsworth, south London, having sex with a male prisoner in his cell. The raunchy footage, which went viral, showed the uniformed woman performing sex acts on the lag while his mate filmed the action on a mobile phone in the Category B wing. The filming inmate, puffing away, boasted: “Guys, we’ve made history, this is what I’m telling you.”
While the incident unfolded, the oblivious voices of her colleagues could be heard over the officer’s radio, casually left on a side table. At one stage, as someone tried entering the cell, the cameraman interjected: “Give me a minute, one second.”
He then continued to capture his pal’s antics before swinging the lens round to himself, smirking: “This is how we roll in Wandsworth.”, reports the Mirror. The explicit clip triggered a police investigation, leading to De Sousa Abreu’s charge.
In July, the Portuguese passport holder pleaded guilty and was handed conditional bail, pending her suspension from the clink. Tetteh Turkson from the Crown Prosecution Service stated: “This was a shocking breach of the public’s trust. De Sousa was clearly an enthusiastic participant who wrongly thought she would avoid responsibility. The CPS recognises there is no excuse for any prison officer who conducts themselves in such a manner, and we will never hesitate to prosecute those who abuse their position of power.”
Drama unfolded as it was revealed De Sousa Abreu had featured on Channel 4’s risque show ‘Open House: The Great Sex Experiment’, with her MMA fighter hubby. On the swingers’ program set in a posh pad, the couple explored if swinging could bolster their relationship.
While making her debut, De Sousa Abreu declared, “Monogamy is a social construct that I think needs to be dismantled. Opening up our relationship has allowed us to form a deeper connection with each other.”
Her sister spilled to Mail Online, “She was on a Channel Four programme called Open House. I never saw it. It’s not the sort of thing I’d watch with my little sister in. I only found out that she worked for the prison service in January. That’s when I spoke to her and said do not mix your lifestyle with work. Don’t be stupid, don’t do stupid things.”
In a shocking twist, a friend named Hayley revealed in August that Linda was being blackmailed. Inmates had discovered her Only Fans platform along with her private details including home address and husband’s name.
De Sousa Abreu ran the account under the pseudonyms “Linda from the Playroom” and “La Madre”, which is Spanish for “The Mother”.
Speaking to the Mail, Hayley disclosed: “There’s a lot more to this story than people think.” She detailed the extent of the blackmail, saying, “Some of the prisoners had got hold of Linda’s personal details. They knew her address, her husband’s name and that she had an Only Fans account. She was put under a lot of pressure and there was a lot of coercion involved. Linda was going through a very hard time at work because of all this.”
Hayley added: “People are trying to make out that Linda is some kind of sex monster but that’s not the case at all. She is a very kind and caring person who has made a terrible mistake. We all get things wrong in life and people shouldn’t be so quick to judge her.”
However, later in September, De Sousa Abreu faced backlash for seemingly mocking her punishment. A video surfaced showing her in Neverland London, a Fulham day club, cheekily lifting her dress and fondling her ankle monitor. She mimicked the viral TikTok phrase by Joolie Lebron, saying: “Very mindful, very cutesy, very demure.”
A source at the time expressed their disgust, stating: “It’s disgusting she has no shame. She is laughing her head off and looks happy she has a tag to show off. She disgraced herself in a public office and now she has no care whatsoever for the punishment. Clearly if she thinks her ankle tag is like a piece of jewellery, she didn’t think it was a big deal.”
