Nigel Farage has made £190k promoting ‘tax-free’ gold since getting into Parliament

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has trousered nearly £190,000 from selling gold as a “tax-free” investment since he was elected to Parliament, we can reveal.

It brings Farage’s earnings from his many side hustles to more than £570,000 in just six months since he became an MP in July. The 60-year-old privately-educated former commodities trader also earns £91,000 a year from his MPs salary.

According to his register of interests as a MP, he makes rent from two buy-to-let properties in Kent and Surrey, while he is renovating a third.

We revealed in August that Farage had been promoting gold bullion investment firm Direct Bullion as their “Brand Ambassador”. One advert, titled “Nigel Farage explains the Big Pension Secret”, was posted on YouTube three weeks after he was elected MP for Clacton, Essex.

But according to the latest edition of his register of interests, Mr Farage did not register any earnings until last month.

Declaring earnings of £189,300, he said he worked a maximum of four hours a month for Direct Bullion since the July and that the payment include “for work undertaken prior to my election”.

Despite leading a party with just five MPs, Farage is one of the bookie’s favourites to become the next Prime Minister.

Elon Musk was reported to be considering a $100m donation to Reform UK but he dramatically this week declared that Farage “doesn’t have what it takes” to lead the party.
