Ruben Amorim names ‘two untouchables’ with remainder of the squad ‘open for provides’

Ruben Amorim has had time to assess his Manchester United squad and it has been reported that the club would be willing to sell all but two players in January

Manchester United are reportedly willing to entertain offers for all their squad members in the January transfer window, with the exception of two ‘untouchables’.

Ruben Amorim, who joined from Sporting Lisbon in mid-November, has been evaluating the team, having overseen 12 matches.

Across three competitions, Amorim has utilised a total of 25 players, with the upcoming third-round FA Cup tie against Arsenal providing another golden chance for players to shine.

The Red Devils’ morale-boosting 2-2 draw against Liverpool last weekend ended their streak of four consecutive losses over a dreadful festive period.

Amorim has confirmed that United will ‘try and do something’ in the January transfer window, but they need to offload players before they can bring in new ones. Hence, Old Trafford bosses would be open to selling all but two of their stars for the right price.

Summer recruit Leny Yoro, who cost United £52million under former manager Erik ten Hag, is one of the untouchables. The other is breakout star Amad, who is on the verge of signing a new long-term contract.

It’s suggested that the club would consider offers for the rest of the squad – but only at the right price. Earlier this year, it was reported that Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho were deemed un-sellable, but it seems circumstances have changed, reports the Mirror.

Garnacho, 20, is reportedly being eyed by Atletico Madrid for a return, while Chelsea are said to be leading the race if academy star Mainoo becomes available.

United’s plans for the January transfer window were recently revealed by Amorim, who stated: “When the window is open, we can try to do something and we will try to do something.

“But I think, in the next weeks, we are going to have more time to train and we can improve, that’s the only way.

“We had a lot of games without training, now we will have more space to grow. You can see that the context is worse in this moment, as we had a lot of losses, so we have to manage everything.

“I will keep that to myself. But we’ll try to do something.”

Marcus Rashford could be the most high-profile and lucrative sale, with the forward expressing his readiness for a new challenge last month. AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and clubs in Saudi Arabia are all reportedly interested in securing his services, either on loan or permanently.
