WWE ‘cancel former champion’s large return’ simply earlier than RAW debut on Netflix to make room for The Undertaker’s look

WWE brought all the stars out for their debut show on Netflix, but the Monday Night Raw could have had perhaps their biggest female star of all-time, too.

According to Bodyslam.net, Becky Lynch was pencilled to make her return to WWE after over six months away, but the plan was cancelled at the last minute.

The Man departed WWE on June 1, 2024 at the expiry of her contract having her last match in May. Since then, she’s been taking on different projects, most recently, featuring in Adam Sandler‘s Happy Gilmore 2.

WWE brought back plenty of star power for the debut show on Netflix, a deal that saw them bag $5bn. The Rock, John Cena and Hulk Hogan were among the names to appear on the show, as well as the late addition of The Undertaker.

According to the report, The Deadman replaced Lynch in the plans late in the day.

Lynch was scheduled to appear at the conclusion of Ripley and Morgan, presumably setting up her WrestleMania plans with the winner.

But the company decided to go with The Undertaker’s moment alongside Ripley instead as the WWE Hall of Famer returned as the American Badass and celebrated with the newly crowned champion.

Bodyslam.net reports that Lynch will still return to WWE in the coming weeks and this doesn’t change her direction heading towards WrestleMania in Las Vegas in April – a direction the report says ‘will be very clear’.

This is the moment WWE favoured over a return for Becky Lynch according to the report

Lynch is widely considered the most popular and influential female star in WWE history

Lynch’s last match in WWE was a cage match for the title with Morgan on May 27, 2024. Morgan coincidentally lost the title to Ripley on the episode of RAW Lynch was meant to appear on.

If these plans were in place, that would suggest that Lynch has signed a new deal with WWE and has finished her sabbatical.

Lynch’s last match in WWE at the time of writing came last May in a steel cage on RAW

If she does return in the next few weeks, it seems likely that she would enter the Royal Rumble on February 1.

WWE’s debut on Netflix has been met with mixed reviews with some fans feeling that it was trying hard to advertise to a new audience rather than put on a true show.
