Jaw-dropping Dutch TV personality Sylvie Meis has beamed with pride after her son, Damian van der Vaart, followed in the footsteps of his dad and signed for Ajax
Dutch delight Sylvie Meis beamed with pride after her footballer son put pen-to-paper on a deal with Ajax.
The blonde bombshell, who is currently soaking up some winter sun in the Maldives, could only congratulate her son on Facetime after he signed a deal with the Amsterdam-based side. “My sweet Dami! My heart is bursting with pride and joy,” she said in a social media post.
“Watching you sign a new 4.5-year contract with Ajax Amsterdam is an unforgettable moment that we have all been waiting for with so much excitement. Your hard work, determination and passion have brought you here and I couldn’t be prouder of the man you have become.”
She added: “Even though I couldn’t be there in person, I’m so grateful to your dad for putting me on FaceTime so I could still share this special moment with you. You are living your dream and it’s only the beginning! I love you infinitely, my superstar!”
Damian van der Vaart, 19, is the son of Sylvie and ex-Real Madrid and Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart. Damian is currently part of Ajax’s U19s side and his contract keeps him at the club until 2029.
Ajax’s Sports director Marijn Beuker said: “He has excellent shooting technique and uses a lot of energy when pressing the opponent.”
While is dad is an internationally renowned footballer, Sylvie is a star in her own right and she hosts Love Island Germany after taking over from Jana Zarella for the sixth season.
Sylvie has also been a judge on Das Supertalent and she was a contestant on the third season of Germany’s Let’s Dance.
Despite being Dutch, Sylvie is based in Germany, having moved there with ex-husband Van der Vaart when he left Ajax for Hamburg.
