Brit vacationers vow ‘we cannot be again’ to vacation hotspot after ‘muggers alley’ warning

Brits have flocked to the holiday hotspot in search of sun and sea but some tourists have vowed they “won’t be back” after being issued a warning about the town’s so-called Muggers Alley

Benidorm holidaymakers in the European Union holiday hotspot have been warned by TikTok user @harrytokky.

UK holidaymakers have been cancelling their trips to Spain, vowing they “won’t be back” after a concerning warning about the infamous ‘Muggers Alley’ in Benidorm. The alarm was raised by TikTok user @harrytokky, who warned tourists about the risk of falling victim to pickpockets in the notorious area.

According to Harry, the alleyway, located between a block of flats and a police station off Calle Verona and near the popular Morgan’s Tavern, is particularly risky. He urged visitors to “be careful” when walking down the alley late at night and to “stay safe”.

Responding to the video, one user advised holidaymakers to “Walk round where the bins are, cross the road and you’ll be fine, believe me.” The muggers reportedly “don’t bother women, only drunk males”, according to the caption. Another user chimed in: “I’ve stayed in the hotel beside it and seen plenty of muggings from the window.”

They added: “It’s notorious for it.”, reports Birmingham Live. Other areas to avoid include the road near Buddies bar, the path to Tiki Beach and Yellow Brick Road at night, and the beach after midnight. One holidaymaker confirmed that this has been an issue for years, saying: “Been like that for years in that spot.”

“Every night between 12am and 5am in the morning they sit outside KFC opposite Rockeys bar in Ave Gerona in the busy area. They wait for English tourists to walk by after a few drinks,” one holidaymaker wrote.

“The police seemed to be aware of the group but due to so many English tourists not wanting the hassle and not reporting it they have not managed to arrest the Romanians. The following night we saw them again and they ran off in the same street. Four other English men that saw them run said they had had the same happen to them,” another added.

One tourist complained: “The vendors that try and get you in the pubs too are an absolute nuisance. No rush to go back.” Another chimed in: “And that’s why I won’t be back.”

A different person recounted: “We saw a drunk bloke – she grabbed him started kissing him then took stuff out his back pockets then walked off. We said you just been robbed he said yeh wallets gone and phone.”

Another shared: “When I arrived last week in the afternoon, some women had her hand in my bag as I was getting my case off coach.”

Another commented: “We have just spent a week in Benidorm, we enjoyed it.The setback was the increase in the number of beggars and tricksters on the streets. The conmen with the three cups and a pea are all over the place, the beggars can seem rather menacing to people alone.”
