Danni Menzies slips right into a skimpy crimson bikini in minus diploma temperatures as she goes wild swimming in Scotland

Her television career has seen her enjoy sun, sea and sand on tropical beaches around the world.

However, Danni Menzies endured far colder waters on Wednesday as she took a dip in a chilly Scottish loch amid freezing temperatures.

The Place In The Sun, 36, host posted a video on social media showing her braving the frigid conditions after stripping down to a red bikini.

In the clip, she said: ‘It was minus 12 here last night so this is going to be interesting.’

The star, who has spoken of her love of wild swimming, then steps into the water and wades out before being joined by her black Labrador Mona, which swims out to her.

In a message written with her post, Menzies said: ‘I have no idea what the water temperature was but I can tell you two minutes was plenty!’

The water in the video is likely to be Loch Tay. Her parents live on a large estate, in Kenmore, Perthshire, beside the loch.

Later in the video, Menzies donned a white dressing gown and woollen hat before she and Mona played tug-of-war with a towel.

The fun clip comes after the presenter made a surprising career move with a new project.

The Scottish star, began co-hosted A Place In The Sun in 2016 and announced her departure from the programme earlier last year.

In conjunction with The Health Lottery, Danni started an ‘inspirational’ podcast where she speaks to personalities such as Loose Women’s Kaye Adams.

Danni told The Scottish Sun at the time: ‘I’m thrilled to be anchoring my first ever podcast series with The Health Lottery.

‘I cannot wait to share uplifting and entertaining stories of kindness, resilience and celebrating achievements with people from all walks of life.’ 

Also appearing on the pod was award-winning filmmaker and photographer Doug Allan, Michelin star chef Andy Beynon, and bestselling author Chris Brookmyre.

Danni’s show became available on all platforms including Apple, Spotify and Amazon Music from May 23.

Her show is part of the Pay it Forward campaign launched by The Health Lottery which has raised over £130 million for wellbeing causes across the UK.

Also last year, Danni confirmed that she’s single and shared she was just enjoying life after a brief relationship with Love Island star Jay Younger, 31 – also a Scot.

She proved in April when she shared gorgeous photos from her solo trip to the Cayman Islands to see a friend.

Danni said: ‘Things didn’t work out with Jay but that’s fine. Travelling a lot for work does make it trickier to meet someone.’

In February, Danni paid a heartfelt tribute to Jonnie who died at age 50 after a battle with terminal lung cancer.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Danni shared a poem by Ida Banks and told her followers how her former colleague would ‘continue to exist in those who loved him’.

The post read: ‘When we die I want to believe that we are scattered throughout all the people that have ever loved us’.

‘That we will continue to exist in them, in their bloodstreams, for generations, for lifetimes.’

Danni added over the top: ‘You will Jonnie xxx’.
