A new photo has been shared of the Princess of Wales for her birthday along with a sweet message from Prince William, reflecting on their tough year following her cancer diagnosis
Prince William has shared a never-before-seen photo of Kate Middleton to social media to celebrate her 43rd birthday.
The Prince of Wales accompanied the photo with an unusual message of praise for his wife of 13 years. This rare public display of affection comes after several rumours the couple were struggling following a tense display over Christmas, both at Kate’s Christmas Carol Service and the family church service at Sandringham. However, William appears to be looking onwards as he puts behind a ‘difficult’ year for the Wales’.
William shared a photo to their joint Instagram account. The photo, taken by royal photographer Matt Porteous, displays the Princess of Wales in front of a white wall wearing a black jacket and white scarf, smiling widely as she peers out of frame.
The future king wrote: “To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you. W.”
Fans of the royal couple flooded the comment section with appreciation for the couple. One user wrote: “What a lovely and beautiful message. Happy Birthday!!!” Another added: “Happy, Happy Birthday! I hope your day everything you imagined!”
Several others added “happy birthday” messages. Katherine faced a difficult year after it was announced in March 2024 that she was undergoing treatment for cancer.
Over Christmas she was seen publicly at a Christmas carol service.
A body language expert has noted a significant shift in Kate’s service. She was eagerly awaited at Westminster Abbey, especially since she made only a few public appearances this year, focusing mainly on her health.
Judi James, a body language expert, told the Mirror that there was a ‘subtle shift in dynamic from the previous year’ in Kate’s body language. She observed: “Firstly there is the growing lack of any signs of tension, thanks in part to the way her children seem to be becoming increasingly self-sufficient.
“George is now in charge of his brother’s royal rituals and protocol and was seen nudging Louis back in line when he tore past George to greet their host at the Abbey, smoothing his tie as he did so in a way that mirrored his father’s own preparational gesture when he is on a meet and greet.”
