Mansfield Town have announced their scheduled FA Cup third round tie at home against Wigan Athletic on Saturday has been postponed.
The all-League One third round game has fallen victim to freezing conditions around the country this week. Mansfield confirmed on their X page that the game will not go ahead following a pitch inspection on Friday morning
“Following a pitch inspection at One Call Stadium this morning, Mansfield Town’s Emirates FA Cup third round tie at home to Wigan – scheduled for tomorrow – has been postponed due to a frozen pitch and will now take place on Tuesday 14 January (7.45pm kick-off),” Mansfield wrote on X.
Wigan also shared a statement to supporters explaining that all tickets issued will remain valid for the newly-arranged Tuesday evening fixture. The 2013 FA Cup winners wrote on their club website: “A pitch inspection took place at the One Call Stadium at 9:00am this morning (Friday 10 January), with the pitch deemed unplayable by officials and with freezing temperatures set to continue overnight and into Saturday the decision was made to postpone the game until Tuesday evening.”
