Amika Mirrorball High Shine + Protect Antioxidant shampoo is being pulled from beauty shelves after failing to meet regulatory standards. All units of the Amika Mirrorball shampoo from 2023 and 2024 are included in the recall.

The shampoo, which comes in a pink patterned bottle, is part of a set called Shine-O-Sphere that also includes a hair mask, gloss spray and conditioner. Retailers, including TK Maxx, have recalled the set, which was sold in stores between April and December 2024.

Major online retailers such as Cult Beauty and Sephora have also listed the product as out of stock. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), responsible for the recall, stated: “The product poses a microbiological risk as it could have a change in odour and in rare cases cause temporary irritation due to the presence or potential presence of the bacterium P.Gergoviae.”

Amika has reassured customers that none of their other products have been affected by this recall, reports the Express.

The brand stated: “We have been monitoring recent feedback citing change in odour and in rare cases, temporary irritation.”
