Lottery winner’s ex ‘dragged him to the bottom by his balls’ after vacation bender

Matt Myles had just got back home to the UK after going on an eight-month bender with his mates after bagging £1million on the EuroMillions – but things would soon turn sour with his ex

A lottery winner’s girlfriend lashed out at him after spotting a message from another woman on his phone, leaving him battered and bruised. Matt Myles had just returned from an eight-month lads’ holiday, bragging about sleeping with 87 women during the trip.

But things turned ugly when Carla Chamberlain, 24, saw a Snapchat notification pop up on his phone and lost her temper. The pair had rekindled their relationship after Myles won £1million on the EuroMillions in April 2014 and splashed £72,000 on his globetrotting adventure.

However, after a boozy Boxing Day night out, their reunion took a nasty turn at his house in Hereford.

Hereford Magistrates’ Court heard how fitness instructor Chamberlain snapped when she saw the message – smacking Myles in the face, scratching his neck with her glittery acrylic nails and, most painfully, grabbing and squeezing his testicles.

According to Myles, the fight spiralled out of control after he confronted her and tried to end the relationship. He said Chamberlain completely lost it, grabbing at him again and dragging him to the floor.

Chamberlain later claimed her rage was fuelled by Myles boasting about sleeping with 87 women during their time apart.

Chamberlain was convicted of two counts of assault and one count of criminal damage but was cleared of another damage charge. She ended up with a £625 fine and a 12-month restraining order.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Myles told the Mail: “The lottery win was the most amazing thing that ever happened to me, but ironically it also led to the worst – suffering domestic abuse at the hands of the woman I loved.

“The attack left me feeling vulnerable and really knocked my confidence. I served five years in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, but this left me feeling completely powerless.”

Describing the night of the assault, he added: “Carla shouted, ‘Why the [bleep] are you getting pictures from her? I bet she sends you more than that.’

“She’d just had these massive acrylic nails done and scratched my face. I told her to stop, and then she punched me in the face.”
