I purchased a drained and dated Nineteen Sixties bungalow that no one needed – now it is a fashionable, fashionable residence after a five-year renovation

A woman who purchased a ‘tired and dated’ 1960s bungalow that ‘nobody wanted’ has shared the stunning five-year renovation of the property.

Author, designer and stylist Reena Simon, from Wales, started her mission to turn the old-fashion home into a Scandinavian haven for her, her husband and their three daughters in 2018.

She has long documented her home renovation journey on her Instagram page, @hygge_for_home, which boasts 336,000 followers.

In one video showcasing the property’s dramatic transformation, she said: ‘We bought the bungalow that nobody wanted. The interior was dated and tired.

‘It needed a lease of life and a new story. It has taken us five years to do this. Let me take you inside.’

The video showcased the building when it was first purchased in 2018, looking old fashioned with attention-stealing red carpets and outdated frosted glass windows.

Elsewhere, the kitchen had 60s style magnolia cupboards and the bedrooms were covered in outdated wallpaper, while the grounds outside were left covered in overgrown grass.

The bathroom was plain and uninviting, with light wooden flooring and walls covered in white tiles and yellow paint.

The influencer showed clips of the home as it is now, and the transformation (pictured) is incredible

But the yellow walls, dull flooring and outdated furniture were quickly abandoned, with the footage soon showing a glimpse of the home five years later.

Showcasing an incredible transformation, the footage captured how a second floor – covered in black cladding – had been added to the building.

The couple added large windows to the property to allow natural light to flood the chic home.

Inside the house was transformed into an incredibly stylish, minimalist home with the bottom floor entirely open plan.

The blogger created a warm and cosy space with soft furnishings and a muted cream palette which made for a calm atmosphere.

In the kitchen, a breakfast bar was now the statement décor, while lights were placed above the stylish centrepiece and large windows finished off the room.

After the transformation it appeared Reena replaced the flooring with tiles and a new modern stand alone bathtub

The living room, meanwhile, no longer featured red carpets and an outdated fireplace. Instead, the room boasted white walls, an electric fireplace and wood flooring.

A striped cream rug, artwork and a stylish lamp decorated the space, as well as high ceilings and comfy sofa.

Elsewhere, during the transformation, Reena replaced the wooden bathroom flooring with tiles and added new modern stand alone bathtub.

Reena said that the interior of her home is inspired by a Nordic style and aims to embody ‘the cosiness of Scandinavia’.

The clip was captioned: ‘We all have a different story to tell and different life experiences which have led us to wherever we are now.

‘I am sharing a little of my story today. I haven’t shared what the interior was like when we bought the bungalow for a long time so here it is!

‘It was tired and dated and the bungalow was single storey. We gutted it, left 3 walls standing and added another floor.’

People rushed to the comments to gush over the home transformation with many saying it doesn’t look like the same place.
