Ruben Amorim is seeing the best of the ‘outstanding’ player now he has the confidence to wear the shirt without feeling the weight of it, says club legend Gary Pallister
Ruben Amorim should build his new-look Manchester United side around Amad Diallo.
That’s the opinion of former United star Gary Pallister, who reckons the Ivorian has been his team’s stand-out performer this season. United boss Amorim has shown faith in some United stars, including in the FA Cup win over Arsenal.
Diallo is one of those and the winger was recently rewarded with a new-and-improved deal at Old Trafford. And Pallister is sure that he has earned it with his performances so far this season.
Pallister told Betano: “Amad Diallo is a unique player for Manchester United. He’s been outstanding, at the start of the season he was playing like a player who wasn’t sure of his place in the side despite playing well at the back end of last season.
“I don’t know what Erik ten Hag wasn’t seeing in him. He’s turned into a player who really owns that shirt. He’s become an integral part of Amorim’s side and the best player on the pitch in the last few weeks.
“He’s been terrific. His work rate is tremendous and he’s aggressive and physical enough despite being quite slight.”
Pallister is sure of Diallo’s future at Old Trafford and says the wide man has everything under control, while providing a sense of ease for the new boss.
He added: “He’s ticking all the boxes, and I’m sure Amorim is delighted for him. I’m good friends with Tony Mowbray, who had him at Sunderland, and he has always raved about him. He’s got a big future.”
