Lazio’s ex-falconer has reportedly locked himself in the Italian club’s training ground.

Juan Bernabe, who brings out their eagle mascot on matchdays, was given the boot earlier this week after he underwent surgery for a penile implant to “increase his sexual performance” and revealed the results to his followers on social media.

The Italian club sacked him for his social media antics, but the saga is far from over. Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claim Bernabe has locked himself in his room at the club’s Formello training ground and is refusing to leave.

The Spaniard is hoping his stunt will land him at the feet of Lazio president Claudio Lotito – so he can apologise in an attempt to get his job back.

Bernade has released a statement, saying: “I want to apologise as a man for what happened, I am truly sorry and saddened towards the Italian people. Above all, for the parents of minors. My goal was different and they must recognise my mistake.

“I apologise to the Lazio fans, who have suffered so much because of me. I apologise to the club and to the President of Lazio. I hope that when he speaks to me tomorrow he can take into account that children like Olympia [the eagle] a lot, because Olympia is the symbol of Lazio.

“I am the one who matters the least. I did what I could in 15 years at Lazio, now I have ruined everything because of a human error.

“I take the consequences because I am a man and I am here to pay. I remain calm about what is going around me, I have two children to raise and what they are saying about me is out of context.

“Talking to friends brings tears to my eyes, it’s a difficult time for me. I don’t understand the people who brutally insult me. They don’t understand that in life you can make mistakes. I made a mistake, please forgive me.”

Bernabe, who claimed he is from a “family of nudists”, had opened up on the surgery, saying he’s not an “adult star” and he just had a “health issue”.

He added: “Being able to control my erection is a step forward for my life. When I have free time I always want to have sex. I would like to do it at least once or twice a day.”

Lazio said in a statement: “It is not possible to be associated, especially with the historical symbol of the eagle, with a subject that has made the continuation of the relationship inadmissible.”
