A TikTok star has sent a plea to her followers to stop sending her hate messages after she was mixed up for tennis sensation Danielle Collins who infamously smacked her bum at the Australian Open crowd
A TikToker has pleaded with users to stop sending her hate after she was confused with an Australian Open star.
American tennis ace Danielle Collins slammed the crowd during her second-round win of the women’s singles event last Thursday. Collins beat home favourite Destanee Aiava 7-6 4-6 6-2 in front of a hostile crowd.
Collins gave it back to the supporters, cupping her ears before she started blowing kisses and even smacked her bum. After her victory, she hit out at the crowd, calling them ‘drunk’ and rubbed their noses in the £147,000 she won for reaching the third round.
However, the No.10 seed’s outburst has caused problems for a TikToker of the same name. The vlogger has over 147,000 followers on the platform and has had to post a message pleading with viewers not to send hate her way.
“This is a message for the tennis player Danielle Collins, so if you’re not her, just keep scrolling, TikToker Danielle Collins said. “Girl, can we not do a repeat of that Australian Open interview, people are mixing us up and I’m getting hate comments all the time.
“At the start it was fun as people were offering to pay £1,000 for my tennis shoes, which I don’t own, but now it’s getting out of hand. I think that Australian Open interview really set it off.”
Collins’ retort to the Aussie crowd saw her flaunt her winnings to the spectators. Speaking after her victory, she said: “During the match I was like, while I’m out here I might as well take that big fat pay check.
“We love a five star vacation, so a big part of that will go towards that. So thank you guys, thanks for coming out here and supporting us tonight. Thank you guys, love you.”
Collins added: “I think there were a lot of people that were super drunk and had a hard time controlling themselves and were really excited.”
The 10th seed lost to national compatriot Madison Keys in the third round, leaving her now free to splash the cash. “Well I’m going to be here for two hours, putting up with all these people, I might as well take the bigger pay check, right?’” Collins added after her win.
“I was super happy to do that and one of the greatest things about being a professional athlete are that the people that don’t like you and that hate you, they actually pay your bills.
“It’s kind of a cool concept and obviously my professional career is not going to last forever and I just remind myself every day when I have that kind of stuff that they’re paying my bills.
“Every person that has bought a ticket and has come out here to heckle me can do what they do. It’s all going towards the Danielle Collins fund. So like, yeah, bring it on I love it.”
