A 22-year-old man from Nottinghamshire was left on the ground having seizures and with his two front teeth by his side after a random attacker in a pub headbutted him for no reason
A man was left on the floor having seizures after being randomly headbutted by a lunatic in a pub.
Shaun Dixon, 22, from Nottinghamshire, said he was having a friendly chat with the attacker at the boozer in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire on a Saturday night. They were in the smoking hut when the man, apparently out of nowhere, turned and nutted him square on.
Shaun had his two front teeth smashed out and he remembers waking up on the concrete with his nashers beside him. He had his first of three seizures as he lay there after the attack.
Shaun said: “It was a totally unprovoked attack. Before it happened I was getting along with the guy.
“I was left outside. A lady came to help me and had to drag me to the floor because I was telling her I wanted to go to sleep.”
“From me lighting up to waking up on the floor, I don’t remember anything in between,” he said. “It was all a bit of a blur.”
The assault, which took place at T8’s Bar in Central Walk on January 4, was reported to police, who arrested a man later that night. Nottinghamshire Police said the suspect had agreed to a conditional caution, which would involve paying for Mr Dixon’s dental treatment.
The nerves beneath Shaun’s teeth were left exposed by the damage, meaning attempts to eat, drink and even speak resulted in excruciating pain.
He said: “I stayed inside and didn’t do much, I didn’t speak to family because it was so uncomfortable.
“I don’t really feel comfortable speaking to people because of the state I’m in. It’s my two front teeth, it’s the first thing people see.
“I was really not in a good way. I’ve been off work for the last two weeks. I feel a lot better now but it took a few weeks to get there.”
Shaun, who is returning to his job at Tesco this week, has had temporary dental work done but described this as looking “ridiculous”. He said he had four long term options, ranging from a dental rebuild and dentures which would cost almost £2,000 to having dental implants which would set him back a massive £6,500.
He is hoping this will eventually be paid for by his attacker, but in the meantime has set up a GoFundMe which has so far raised £500.
Detective Constable Beth Davison said: “This was a senseless attack that left the victim with a significant and upsetting facial injury. A suspect in this case was identified shortly after the incident and is currently being dealt with by way of a conditional caution – which has been provisionally agreed by both parties.
“This resolution is dependent on full payment for the victim’s dental treatment, final details of which are currently being negotiated. If these conditions are not met then a file will be sent to Crown Prosecution Service for further criminal action.”
