EasyJet emergency sees medics scrambled to hurry passenger from airplane to hospital

An easyJet flight arriving at Edinburgh Airport was met by paramedics after a medical incident on board – with the passenger later rushed to hospital

An EasyjJet flight coming in to touch down at Edinburgh Airport had emergency medics dashing to the scene, with one person subsequently whisked off to hospital after a mid-air scare. The drama unfolded on Monday, February 3, at approximately 4.25pm when an easyJet service, flight EZY811, flying high from London Gatwick, made its approach to Edinburgh.

Snaps taken at the site captured scenes of emergency crews ready and waiting on the tarmac by Gate 23 of the airport. Fire crews from Edinburgh Airport reportedly were the first on hand at the incident, prior to Scottish Ambulance Service paramedics racing in.

Big bosses at Scottish Ambulance Service disclosed they were alerted to the situation at 4.25pm and went on to ferry a patient to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Over at easyJet, the top brass stressed that the “safety and wellbeing” of passengers is their utmost concern.

Chatting about the event, a spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport relayed: “Members of our fire service were first responders to an incident before the arrival of paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 16:25 on Monday 3 February to attend an incident at Edinburgh Airport.”, reports Edinburgh Live.

They continued: “One ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.”

An easyJet spokesperson stated: “Flight EZY811 from London Gatwick to Edinburgh on February 3 was met by paramedics after arrival due to a customer onboard requiring medical attention. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.”
