Emile Heskey has announced a surprising career change – but the Liverpool cult hero will remain in his role as Head of Football Development at Leicester City Women

Liverpool cult hero Emile Heskey has announced a surprising career change.

Heskey, 47, has landed a new job as a security firm director thanks to his lifelong friendship with Nottingham-based Octavian founder Sukhi Ghuman.

“The company is a real route for progression for me,” Heskey said. “I first met Sukhi at school and we’ve really worked on this relationship for the last 15 years.

“It’s my mission to encourage more athletes into the business world to not only learn, but also share their winning mindset and help businesses grow.”

Ghuman added: “This is a move that has been long in the making. Emile understands from his days at the top of football that you need inner strength and determination to succeed.

“I can’t wait to watch him make a huge impact on Octavian.” Octavian security manage risk, provide manpower and protect business’ operations and interests.

Heskey will now have to juggle his new role with his new role with his position as the Head of Football Development at Leicester City Women – where he has been working after hanging up his boots.

The England striker enjoyed a wealth of success, making his debut at just 17-years-old as part of a Reds team that went onto win the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup with Liverpool.

He would make 633 appearances, scoring 130 goals.

Heskey also netted seven goals for England, including during one memorable night in Germany as the Three Lions trounced their bitter rivals on home soil.
