Five of the Super Bowl’s most stunning moments

It was an all round shocking evening, with the Philadelphia Eagles hammering the Kansas City Chiefs to a comfortable win, but it was the celebrity fans that really bought the drama

From brutal rap disses to presidential jinxes, last night’s Super Bowl (or really this morning’s Super Bowl for those of us in the UK) was every bit as bonkers as we’ve come expect from our cousins across the pond.

And while many viewers (and some journos too I suspect) still probably don’t know their wide receivers from their quarterbacks, the off-the-field antics were sure to keep us all entertained.

1. Taylor Swift Booed by Eagles Fans

The Love Story singer may be the world’s biggest pop star, but there was absolutely no love lost between Taylor Swift and the Philadelphia Eagles fans. The singer, there to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce, recieved raucous boos when shown on the Jumbotron at Caesars Superdrome.

Swift, however, didn’t look to fussed, and even lent into the pantomime villain role somewhat – throwing a sassy side-eye before turning back to her VIP suite, which included Ice Spice and the Haim sisters.

It was a disappointing night for Taylor, with her beau Travis, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, being on the receiving end of a 22-40 hiding by the Eagles.

2. Kendrick Lamar’s savage Drake diss

Much of the speculation pre-Half Time Show was whether or not Compton-based rapper Kendrick Lamar would add fuel to the fire that is his rap beef with Drake, and perform Grammy award winning diss track Not Like Us.

The rapper shocked viewers by performing Not Like Us , Introduced by Samuel L. Jackson, Lamar built suspense by teasing the song multiple times before finally delivering a fierce version, much to the delight of the crowd.

He even seemed to stare directly into the camera while rapping the line, “Hey Drake, I hear you like ‘em young,” sending social media into a frenzy. With Drake’s legal team already battling accusations of defamation over the track, Lamar’s performance was a bold move that proved their feud is far from over.

3. Patrick Mahomes holds back tears after Chiefs collapse

Kansas City Chiefs fans had high hopes for a historic three-peat, but star man Patrick Mahomes and his team weren’t able to meet expectations.

They were dominated by the he Eagles from start to finish, and Mahomes had a nightmare game—throwing a pick-six before halftime and struggling to get anything going.

Cameras captured the usually unshakable quarterback looking visibly emotional in the final moments, seemingly holding back tears as the reality of the loss set in. Following the match the 29-year-old expressed how tricky the defeat was:

“It was kind of 14 points that I gave them and it’s hard to come back from that at the Super Bowl. I just didn’t play to my standard and I have to be better next time.”

4. Serena Williams Crip walks in Lamar’s halftime show

US Tennis superstar Serena Williams made a shock cameo during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show.

As Lamar performed Not Like Us , Williams hit a quick crip walk, a move with deep cultural ties to the West Coast. Fans immediately speculated that her choice of dance was a subtle dig at Drake, whom she was rumoured to have dated in the mid-2000s.

The moment was on our screens for mere seconds, but caused a social media frenzy, with some sleuths interpreting her move as a sign of allegiance in the Kendrick-Drake beef.

5. Donald Trump Leaves Early After Chiefs Disaster

Trump broke convention by attending the super bowl, and then again by (wrongly) predicting a Chiefs victory, while also admitting to be a fan of ”great'” Mahomes.

Considering what happened, Chiefs fans will be wishing the President had kept is mouth shut, as he delivered one big presidental jinx given that the Eagles won, and mahomes played poorly.

To add insult to injury, the former US Apprentice host reportedly left just after half time.
