Torquay United have paid tribute to club legend Tony Bedeau, who has died at the age of 45.

The Gulls announced Bedeau’s passing on their club website, expressing their shock and paying tribute to the striker’s family and friends.

Bedeau, who was born in Hammersmith and represented Grenada four times at international level, started his career with Torquay having previously been on the books at Chelsea.

He also played for Barnsley, Walsall, Bury, Weymouth and Kingstonian.

But he is most fondly remembered for his 10 years spent at Torquay, with his first spell at Plainmoor between 1995 and 2006 before returning for the 2007/08 season. Bedeau made 374 appearances for the club, scoring 65 goals.
