Dillian Whyte and Joe Joyce despatched message over world title fights by Frank Warren

The heavies are ready to rock Manchester’s Co-Op Live in April.

It may be one of the newest music venues in the UK but it is quickly becoming a top boxing arena. Last week old boy Derek Chisora showed there’s still life left in him yet as he beat up Otto Wallin there.

Then on Monday we announced the start of our new era with DAZN will begin at Co-Op Live with a very heavy card indeed. Dillian Whyte will face Joe Joyce in a battle between two men trying to get back towards world title fights.

Joyce is rebuilding after that damaging defeat by Chisora last year and a win over Whyte will catapult him right back in the mix. Whyte has had his troubles outside of the ring after his clash with Anthony Joshua a couple of years ago was cancelled over a positive drug test.

But he has been cleared by the British Boxing Board of Control to continue his career and he will be licensed for the fight so there’s no issues from our point of view. Then the co-main is a cracker between our recent heavyweight recruits in Lawrence Okolie and Richard Riakporhe.

Both men were impressive at cruiserweight but you will see the best of them at heavyweight now and it is sure to be a big-hitting bout. Then in May we are heading to Nottingham for a super-featherweight showdown between two former world champions in Anto Cacace and Leigh Wood.

Both men have caused big upsets throughout their careers and are rightly now fan favourites for their exciting styles. The undercard at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham will be stacked, too. We’re finalising fights for that May 10 date.

While we’ve also acquired the signing of former undisputed light-welterweight champion Josh Taylor. The super Scot has suffered some disappointing defeats but he’s moving up to welterweight to reignite his career.

But we’re not in the business of easy comeback fights so he’s going in against the very talented Ekow Essuman. There will be more dates soon but these are exciting times for British boxing.
