Marcus Rashford still harbours dreams of a move to Barcelona.

Rashford, 27, left Manchester United at the end of January after a reported falling out with new Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim. The boyhood United fan moved to Aston Villa on loan – who have the option to make his stay permanent in the summer.

However, before he made the move, there had been links to Barcelona – and Rashford, according to The Sun, is keen to make that move a reality even with Villa’s contract clause.

A source told The Sun: “Marcus is confident that if he rediscovers his form at Villa Park and starts bagging goals, Barcelona will revive their interest, especially as a transfer price has been established.

“It’s a huge incentive for him, which is good news for Villa. Now he just needs to get playing and start scoring.”

His brothers had held talks with several European clubs including Barca, but the Spanish giants didn’t push for a deal.

“It’s true there was talk of Rashford — but we weren’t desperately looking for a player either,” Deco, who is now Barcelona’s sporting director, admitted.

Rashford admitted when he signed Villa he was happy to play football again, but he was there for the short term.

He said: “Obviously it’s only short term that I’m here but I want to make the most of my time here. And the only way to do that is by using my attributes and skill sets to help the team.”

Rashford was again involved on Saturday afternoon, against Ipswich Town, as he crashed a free-kick off the bar in a 1-1 draw for Unai Emery’s side.
