Manchester United staff have still not been told about the club’s latest round of redundancies.

And those employees waiting to discover if their jobs are safe or not will have to wait for another week to find out what United’s plans are.

United bosses, including co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, will hold a ‘Team Briefing’ with all staff next Monday afternoon, which will be almost two weeks after news broke that United were planning to shed around 150 more jobs.

In a message to staff telling them about the upcoming meeting, United admitted leaked media reports will have been ‘unsettling’ and ‘damaging’.

The memo said: “Any leaks, whether accidental or intended, can be damaging to colleagues and the wider club. We recognise that this is unsettling for you all.

“We always try to work to the principle that we talk to colleagues first with accurate and timely information before briefing journalists.

“In all of our recent Team Briefings, we have stated that our core objective is to help Manchester United win again, which requires transformation on and off the pitch. It will come as no surprise that the club must explore every option, including reducing costs and raising revenues.

“There are no final decisions or announcements currently, and discussions remain ongoing on how we implement the right structure to deliver against our ambitions.”

Ratcliffe has been on a mission to reduce costs at Old Trafford ever since buying a 25 per cent stake in the club 13 months ago.

The billionaire is desperate to give manager Ruben Amorim the best possible chance to rebuild a team capable of taking the club back to its former glories.

Despite record revenues, United have lost £300m in the past three years. Resulting in Ratcliffe and his INEOS group targeting all areas of the United business for potential savings.

The club’s compliance with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) has been at the forefront of Ratcliffe’s thinking, along with building a new stadium for the fallen giants.
