Ronaldo played with some of the best players in the world during his illustrious career, but he revealed which Real Madrid player was the worst player he ever played with
Ronaldo’s all-time teammates XI would be virtually impossible to beat.
The Brazilian superstar played for the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and AC Milan as well as winning two World Cups with Brazil. However, one team-mate in particular stands out for all the wrong reasons.
Thomas Gravesen became a Premier League cult hero during his five years at Everton as his uncompromising looks matched his style of play. Which made it an even greater shock when he was signed to play for the Galacticos team including David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane and Raul.
Signed as an enforcer to the star-studded team, ‘Mad Dog’s’ technical ability didn’t impress Ronaldo, who previously stated the Dane was the worst player he played with.
“There are a lot of them,” Ronaldo said. “There was one at Real Madrid who was a joke… Gravesen.
“He was a Danish midfielder. He was a really cool guy, good guy. A little while ago he won a $50million poker tournament or something. But in football he was very bad, he scored and he beat the hell out of people.”
It wasn’t just Ronaldo who was miffed by Gravesen at the Santiago Bernabeu, his former boss Fabio Capello was also left stunned by the midfielder’s aggression. Speaking after Gravesen infamously threatened to kill Robinho following a training bust-up, Capello said: “He’s just a little bit peculiar.
“I don’t mess with him, he works well tactically. His behaviour is like this, and I don’t like it. Everything has to be done like he wants it to be done.”
After hanging up his boots in 2008, Gravesen moved to Las Vegas where he resides in a gated community with his Czech-born model partner Kamila Persse and is neighbours to Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf and Nicolas Cage.
It’s widely reported that Gravesen earned around £80million from playing poker.
