Jnayo Lucima suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest having been shot at close range allegedly by Mohamed Mansaray, 18, on April Fools’ Day, jurors were told on Monday
A man was lured out of a house and shot dead on the doorstep in a “planned, organised execution” on April Fools’ Day, a court has been told.
Janayo Lucima, 21, sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest after being shot at close range allegedly by Mohamed Mansaray, 18, the jury was told on Monday. The prosecution alleges that although Mansaray fired the fatal shot outside the property in Barons Court, west London, the murder was masterminded by Khuder Al Kurdi, 22, from his nearby home.
It is claimed eight others were with Mansaray to provide him with “back up, support and encouragement”, but two have since escaped to Somalia and Libya to evade prosecution, the jury heard.
Mansaray, Al Kurdi and six others are currently standing trial at the Old Bailey accused of Mr Lucima’s murder. Prosecutor Alan Gardner KC, presenting the case against them, stated Mansaray had been positioned outside the house awaiting Mr Lucima’s exit.
Mr Gardner said: “He was lured out of that house and into the sights of the waiting gunman by a phone call from the first defendant, Khuder Al Kurdi. This was a planned and organised execution arising from disputes within the drugs trade.”
CCTV footage recorded the incident shortly after 10pm on Monday April 1, 2024, in Comeragh Road, a residential area in Barons Court.
Mr Gardner told the jurors: “That is, of course, unpleasant footage to watch, but it is essential that you see it in order to fully understand what happened in this case.”
The court heard the firearm used to fatally shoot Mr Lucima has not been found, having been discarded after the incident.
Allegedly sourced from Al Kurdi, who is accused of playing a “central role” in orchestrating the shooting, the weapon remains unaccounted for.
Al Kurdi, hailing from Barons Court, along with Mansaray, both pleaded not guilty to murder. Their co-defendants Muktar Said, 23, from Hammersmith; Issa Siteri, 19, from Kensington; Yusuf Abdi, 19, from Westminster; Pharrell Cowans, 18, and two 17-year-old boys, whose identities are protected by law, also deny the charges.
The trial at the Old Bailey continues.
