A significant update has been released by police investigating the disappearance of British businessman Campbell Scott in Kenya. The senior director at credit scoring firm Fico was reported missing and now authorities have discovered a strangled body in shrubland.

The body has been recovered and sent to a hospital for identification, but formal identity confirmation is still pending. Scott, 58, was last seen on February 16 while attending a conference at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi.

After his colleagues reported him missing, police initiated a search operation with assistance from Interpol. On Saturday, animal herders found a corpse inside a green sack in the Makongo forest, approximately 60 miles southeast of Nairobi.

Scott had checked into his hotel on the afternoon of Saturday, February 15, and was last seen leaving the hotel the following day. His colleague reported him missing on Sunday night after failing to reach him on his UK registered phone number at 6pm.

After an hour, the concerned co-worker alerted the hotel who advised contacting the police, reports the Mirror.

The police kicked off a probe on the case earlier in the week, according to Mail Online. A pal close to the situation shared: “We don’t know any more than what has been reported, and have been told nothing else. It’s so worrying. He is the kindest person in the world, he will do anything for anyone.”

Before the body was recovered, Fico had released a statement via a representative who mentioned: “Fico is working with our local partners and local authorities to investigate the matter.

“Our thoughts are with Campbell’s family and friends. Please respect his privacy and do not speculate about this situation. If anyone has information that may be helpful regarding his whereabouts, please contact local authorities or the Metropolitan Police.”

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office had already made a statement declaring: “We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Kenya and are in contact with the local authorities.”
