TNA wrestler Jake Something said he has been left with ‘crippling’ medical bills after he had to have surgery on a torn bicep – Jake has now set up a GoFundMe page
A pro wrestler is asking for donations to help him pay his medical bills following a devastating injury.
Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling showman Jacob Doyle, better known as ‘Jake Something’, said the bills to repair his torn bicep are “crippling”. On a GoFundMe page set up by the wrestler, Jake said he tore his bicep on January 26 in Houston, Texas and his financial situation has come unstuck due to being uninsured.
Jake, 35, has also had further personal problems to consider after his beloved pooch Leah “had to get surgery on the same day”.
Jack wrote: “Surgery was a success for both of us! We’re on the road to recovery now. As reluctant as I am to even create this, I know it’s the best chance I have at clearing these fees. I also know that times are tough for everyone, so no worries if you’re unable to help. If you are able to help, I’d greatly appreciate it.”
Hundreds of donations have flooded in for Jake and he has already raised over $11,500 towards his $30,000 goal. A sum that is equivalent to over £9,000.
TNA also appealed for people to donate on X, formerly Twitter. After posting the link, fans of Jake responded, with one calling him “awesome”
Jake himself responded to the TNA post. “Thank you, I’ll be back stronger,” he said.
eWrestling News reported that notable names to donate include TNA World Champion Joe Hendry, Gail Kim, Josh Alexander and Raj Dhesi.
Jake is popular among some members of the wrestling audience. One review on the wrestling site Cagematch said he is a “hidden gem”.
They wrote: “His size and his ability to move so lightning quick with a balance of strength to boost him is incredible… Hopefully he’s talents don’t go overlooked much longer as he’s a total package for any promotion.”
Another wrote: “He’s actually got the in ring skill and speed to keep up with just about anyone and everyone.”
TNA called Jake, from Saginaw in Michigan, a “powerhouse”. It added: “Not only does he possess incredible strength, but he’s also one of the most agile big men in all of professional wrestling. Jake made his jaw-dropping return at Slammiversary 2023 as part of the Ultimate X match.”
He spent 2022 away from TNA, featuring in matches in All Elite Wrestling (SEW) and New Jamapn Pro Wrestling (MPJW). He then returned in 2023.
