A couple have told how they landed back at Manchester Airport from a holiday only to find a ‘meet and greet’ parking firm had allegedly crashed their brand new £157,000 BMW
A couple were left gobsmacked when they returned to Manchester Airport from a holiday only to discover their brand new £157,000 BMW had apparently been smashed up allegedly by their ‘meet and greet’ parking service.
The devastated couple found their 24-plate BMW XM, which had crashed into a hedge near the airport on Saturday afternoon, following their touchdown from the Czech Republic.
The pair, who’ve been kept anonymous by the Manchester Evening News, claim the ‘meet and greet’ parking firm bashed up their hybrid petrol-electric motor after they rang for pickup, and then the firm had the cheek not to say sorry or reveal the location.
The couple’s daughter, who wasn’t with them at the time, spilled the beans to the MEN: “When they landed, they called to say they were ready for their car. But 45 minutes later there was no car and they called again. They said another car had gone into their car and to get a taxi home. They wouldn’t give the location. They called the police and the police told them the location.”
The couple phoned a taxi and found their banged-up beemer by Castle Mill Lane in the Cheshire village of Ashley, a stone’s throw from the airport.
Their daughter continued: “They were really upset. They really loved that car. When their grandchildren went into it, they had to take their shoes off. The company just didn’t care and they didn’t even say sorry or that they would drive them home. They only found out where it was from the police.”
When the Manchester Evening News spoke with Secure Parking Manchester the peroson ont the phone said: “I will pass it onto the office. They deal with the complaints’ side and they will give you a call back mate.”
The M.E.N. also sent an email to the address provided to the couple by the firm but there was no response.
Meanwhile, Cheshire Police confirmed that their colleagues at GMP informed them of a BMW crashed on Mill Lane at 1.53pm on 22 February.
No injuries have been reported.
