The Chase star Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett was seen slapping a wrestler in the ring before walking out in a rage, and later took to Instagram to talk about his next target
A British wrestler has been left reeling after a star of ITV’s The Chase slapped him in the face. The heated confrontation between Mark Labbett and Myles Kayman took place during one of New Generation Pro Wrestling’s most recent shows.
Labbett, who is actually executive producer of one of the UK’s fastest growing independent wrestling companies, rarely gets physically involved when it comes to his passion.
The quiz powerhouse often appears on camera to make matches or law down some law and order – but in a rare move, Labbett was pushed in the chest by Kayman during in in-ring altercation.
It happened during Kayman’s match with ex-WWE NXT UK talent Rampage Brown, when the former attempted to use a chair to win the match after the referee was knocked out.
However, Labbett came to down the ring to stop it, grabbed a microphone, squared up to Kayman, grabbed the chair off him and said: “Listen shorty, if you want to win, do it..”
But before he could finish, Kayman pushed Labbett in the chest – and awoke the beast within.
This saw a raging Labbett slap Kayman in the face, with Kayman then eating Rampage Brown’s gutwrench powerbomb finisher. Sadly, it didn’t end the bout, and Kayman won after low-blowing Brown behind the new referee’s back and finishing Brown off to become to new NGW:UK Champion.
A clip of the altercation between the new champ and Labbett went viral on social media, with Labbett commenting on Instagram that he has a new target – and it’s not Kayman.
He said: “Wish I could slap some sense into online trolls :)”
Mark has been a mainstay on NGW shows since at least 2017, asserting his authority to make matches on the spot and to seek revenge on angry talent. His most recent involvement at the end of 2024 saw him bring ex-Love Island contestant turned wrestler Adam Maxted in as a tag team partner for ECW, WWE and TNA Wrestling legend Rhyno.
He once admitted that his persona on the Chase was actually inspired by wrestling.
Speaking to Keighly News in 2016, he said: “I’ve been a fan of professional wrestling for most of my life. In fact, much of what I do on The Chase has been inspired by wrestling bad guys.”
The Beast has made no secret of his love of wrestling, making appearances in the crowd at various TNA shows during UK tours over the years – and one now has to wonder whether or not The Best will get more involved in-ring . . . and have a match.
