Darts legend Phil Taylor ’s house has been thrown into chaos as it is haunted by the ghost of his late mother-in-law.

The 16-times World Champion says the house he shares with his wife near Stoke has been plagued by spooky goings on.

Phil, 64, who has now retired from the game, said: “I’m pretty sure the house is haunted. “We have an air fresher in the corridor that is activated if you walk past it and it often just goes off. And the dog will sometimes be in the passageway and she will start barking and growling as if it has seen someone walk past.

“It is all very strange. Phil, who’s darts nickname is The Power, reckons it could be the spirit of his recently deceased mother-in-law.

He, said: “This all started after my wife Karen’s mother Val died. Maybe it is her hanging around. Who knows?

“Val was a lovely woman. I used to call her Mrs Brown. She was so much fun and would talk to everyone.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if she was hanging on for a chat.”

But Phil, who was speaking at an event to promote the Modus Super Series on Pluto TV, said he is not fazed by the spookiness as he reckons he has seen ghosts throughout his life.

Previously when asked had he seen ghosts, he said: “Yes. I’ve seen three. I saw one when I was a kid; we used to have one at the pub; and I saw one in an old place in Herefordshire where we were staying. It was a little boy. I’m not frightened of them you see; whether that’s because I see them I don’t know.”

Taylor announced his retirement at the end of last year. He was poised to compete in the World Senior Masters in November but had to withdraw due to an injury.

He decided it was time to step away from darts for good, having not participated in a major PDC event since 2018.
