Only Fools and Horses legend Del Boy is the ultimate male role model, a poll found.
Researchers found 22%of men think wheeler-dealer Derek Trotter is a “top man”.
The character played by Sir David Jason in the long-running BBC sitcom ranked higher than other famous characters like Superman and real-life stars including Brad Pitt, David Beckham and even Sir Keir Starmer.
Brad Pitt only scored a 6% approval rating with David Beckham on 5% and the Prime Minister on just 3%.
Del Boy was nearly three times more popular than Superman who had an 8% rating. The betting site Free Bets asked 1,000 men who they think is the most admirable fictional or real life character to come up with the findings.
Spokesman Tim Agnew said: “We expected a big star like Brad Pitt or David Beckham to win the poll because of their sex appeal and fame.
“But Del Boy topped the poll because of his universal popularity and his never-say-die spirit and loyalty to his family.”
Only Fools and Horses which also starred Nicholas Lyndhurst as Del’s brother Rodney ran from 1981 to 1991.
Del was famous for his money-making schemes going hilariously wrong.
But he never gave up and his famous catchphrase was: “This time next year we’ll be millionaires.”
Winston Churchill was the second most admirable character on 20% with Nelson Mandela third on 17% and Superman fourth on 8%.
Brad Pitt came fifth on 6% ahead of Paul Gascoigne in joint sixth place with David Beckham and Tom Cruise on 5%.
