The FA Cup sixth round draw has been made with Fulham learning who they will face in the quarter-finals as reward for dumping out holders Manchester United.
The tournament has already seen Premier League leaders Liverpool plus big guns Arsenal and Chelsea eliminated. And now Ruben Amorim’s struggling side have joined them in the list of teams who have failed to make it to the latter rounds of the competition, following a defeat on penalties at Old Trafford against Marco Silva’s Cottagers after a 1-1 draw.
Earlier this weekend, Manchester City booked their place in the next stage of the contest with a 3-1 victory against Plymouth Argyle. Aston Villa did the same by besting Cardiff City 2-0, and Brighton and Hove Albion ensured their progress with a late 2-1 win over Newcastle United, notable for Anthony Gordon’s red card and Danny Welbeck’s stunning winner.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth saw off a fiery Wolverhampton Wanderers in a penalty shootout, Crystal Palace dispatched Millwall 3-1 in a bruising encounter and Preston North End thrashed Burnley 3-0 in a heated Lancashire derby. Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town are yet to play on Monday night.
The sixth round of the world’s most famous cup competition will take place around the weekend of Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30. Here is the FA Cup quarter-final draw in full.
