Cheltenham Festival’s greatest and worst dressed as style skilled reveals what to put on

One expert has revealed the best fashion tips ahead of four days of racing at Cheltenham Festival.

According to the Jockey Club, “at Cheltenham Racecourse we believe racing should be enjoyed by anyone and everyone. And one thing is certainly true, the more relaxed and comfortable we feel, the more likely we are to have a great time.”

But the question of what to wear is a problem haunting many people throughout the year. Several think tweed and country attire are the way to go, others believe nothing creates a bit of fun in the famous Guinness Village than a bit of fancy dress.

Whether you want to don the same clothes as the royal family, or strap on your jodhpurs like champion jockey Harry Cobden, the world is your oyster. Ali Lee, personal stylist from Inspired Styling, gave the Daily Star her top tips.

“There’s no formal dress code for the Cheltenham Festival, but why not take the opportunity to dress to impress? In March, the weather can be a bit unpredictable, so looking for a stylish yet warm outfit is essential.

“For women, a brightly coloured outfit is not only cheerful but also makes you easy to spot in the crowds, especially if you’re with a large group that might get separated. Two-thirds of the Cheltenham car parks are on grass, so avoid open-toe shoes and stiletto heels, especially if it’s likely to be muddy.

“For men, Cheltenham is more about smart country chic compared to top hat and tails at Ascot. A tweed blazer or smart wool coat over a roll neck jumper is perfectly acceptable.”

The Daily Star has looked back at 2024 and some of the most memorable looks to grace the race course…
