Robbie Savage made a damning admission about Ruben Amorim’s side in their Europa League clash.

The Red Devils had travelled to San Sebastian to take on Real Sociedad on Thursday evening – and as the two sides played out a snoozefest in the first half, Savage slammed the two teams.

Speaking on TNT Sports while on co-commentary, the former United midfielder admitted: “It has looked like two sides in the bottom half of their respective leagues…”

And United fans couldn’t help but agree on social media, with one fan, when asked what he thought of the first half, sighing: “Boring football with boring players…”

“Snoozefest! Boring Boring game, honestly we have fell off and it’s sad,” a second said. While a third replied: “Both the teams are awful. The tie might go to penalties!”

“We could do with a relegation to be honest. Such a boring club,” a fourth fumed. And another added: “These tactics don’t work at all, time to change. We see this boring sideways passing every week and nothing comes of it!”

Ahead of the game, Amorim had been warned by football finance expert Dr Rob Wilson this is United’s “most critical” competition since their Treble win.

“The Europa League this season is the most critical competition that Manchester United have played in in the last 25 years of their history.

“If they don’t get into Europe, it’s probably going to cost them in the region of £150million, which is massive.”
