B&M shoppers were slammed after they claimed they had contracted an ‘illness’ after entering the premises of the budget retailer.

Taking to a Facebook group, one baffled shopper shared a post that delved into their mystery experience, which claimed they and their friend fell ill after leaving the B&M in Chelmsford. Taking to the social media app, they wrote: “Hello this might sound really silly to ask. But thought I’d ask to see if anyone else has been like it.

“Has anyone been shopping in B&M Chelmsford this week, more so on Tuesday, and since being there, have been really ill. Me and my friend went there and we were feeling fine and we went upstairs and before we came downstairs we both came over feeling odd.”

They continued: “It was quite unusual. We went to tills and left and since then we both have been feeling so so ill.”

The reaction from followers was varied, to say the least. Some shared sympathy, some suggested there was simply a bug going around – others slammed the post as completely bonkers.

One passionate user wrote: “This post is mental. There is not a chance you both caught some kind of virus within minutes of being in a shop. That’s not how viruses, or in fact any illnesses work.

“Sounds more like you were poisoned which is equally bizarre. My conclusion is you’re talking rubbish.”

Another agreed with that sentiment, adding: “You could have both just gotten ill. I have the same symptoms you’re saying but I didn’t go to B&M. There is a bug going around and one of you maybe just passed it on to the other…”

A third noted: “I’ve not been in there but had been ill for a week being light headed and feeling generally ill. Think it’s a bug going round.”

“You aren’t the person who was ‘floating down the A12 are you?'” joked a fourth. However, some did express genuine concern for the original user.

Someone penned: “That doesn’t sound silly at all! It’s important to pay attention to your health and any unusual experiences you might have. If you and your friend both started feeling ill after visiting a specific store, it’s possible that there may have been an environmental factor or substance in the store that triggered the reaction.”

The commenter followed up with advice – to consult a medical professional. However, it appears most people were convinced the ‘mystery’ illness was no mystery at all – but rather a hoax.
