Billionaire CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk, has claimed he has a compromise that would ‘immediately’ end the war in Ukraine.

Departing from the current strategy of placing economic sanctions on Russia to punish it for its invasion of Ukraine, Musk has called for sanctions against Ukrainian elites.

In a blunt statement on his platform, X, Musk claimed: “Place sanctions on the top 10 Ukrainian oligarchs, especially the ones with mansions in Monaco, and this will stop immediately. That is the key to the puzzle.” Musk later responded to those claiming his comments clearly showed he had gone soft on Russia.

He claimed: “I literally challenged Putin to one on one physical combat over Ukraine and my Starlink system is the backbone of the Ukrainian army. Their entire front line would collapse if I turned it off.”

This tweet referencing a 2022 statement in which Musk challenged Vladimir Putin to single combat over Ukraine. Similar to Musk’s previous claims that he would fight Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, this fist fight with Putin also never materialised.

The absurdity of a single combat between Putin and Musk makes it unclear if the billionaire was being serious or trolling in this statement.

Musk has doubled down on his comments and asserted: “What I am sickened by is years of slaughter in a stalemate that Ukraine will inevitably lose. Anyone who really cares, really thinks and really understands wants the meat grinder to stop. PEACE NOW!”

His brutal remarks follow a week of intensive debate in Washington, D.C. regarding the continuation of United States’ financial and military support to Ukraine as the conflict drags on.

These tweets come as former CIA director, John Ratcliffe, confirms that Washington has ‘halted its intelligence sharing efforts’ as Ukraine struggles to hold off Russian forces occupying Ukrainian territory.

A growing number of Americans have become disillusioned with the US’ support for Ukraine echoing Republican Senator Mike Lee who has recently argued that the US should not offer ‘another penny’ to the nation.

High level US and Ukrainian officials are scheduled to meet in Saudi Arabia later this week. These conversations are expected to discuss potential paths to peace including issues surrounding the stalled mineral agreement.

Despite this outlandish series of tweets, Musk continues to be an integral figure in Ukraine’s defence. Musk’s satellite internet system, Starlink, continues to be indispensable to Ukrainian military operations.
