Luke Littler left Luke Humphries and the Nottingham crowd stunned as he hit a 164 finish on his way to victory against the World No.1 in Night 6 of the Premier League
Luke Littler hit an incredible 164 checkout in his Premier League victory against Luke Humphries.
‘The Nuke’ entered Night 5 in Nottingham as the defending night holder following his success in Brighton and off the back of mixed results in the midweek Players Championships events.
Littler was first up in Nottingham as he took on Humphries in the quarter-final, and the clash between darts’ two biggest forces didn’t disappoint.
The reigning world champion powered to a 6-4 win, with a brilliant 164 checkout the catalyst for his victory. Littler levelled the game up 4-4 after hitting a 180 to leave 164, checking out the third highest checkout before he went to win the following two legs and climb to the top of the table.
Fans have become accustomed to Littler producing brilliance, but his latest piece of magic had fans lauding him on X, with one fan saying: “Unbelievable checkout from Littler.”
A second added: “That 164 is absolutely disgusting from Littler. Some game this from them both.” A third echoed: “That 164 from Littler was disgusting.” While another revelled: “Could watch Humphries and Littler throw arrows all day, magic.”
The leg and, subsequently, the rest of the game could have played out completely differently as Humphries suffered a major counting error. In the same leg, Humphries had 265 left, hitting T20, ‘Cool Hand’ then went fishing for another treble but only hit two single 20s, leaving him on a bogey 165.
Littler then stepped up to hit the 180 before taking out 165 and punishing Humphries for his negligent arrows.
‘The Nuke’ will face Rob Cross in the semi-final after ‘Voltage’ beat Chris Dobey 6-2 in the second quarter-final game.
