Gerwyn Price beat Luke Littler 6-3 in the Night 6 final of the Premier League in Nottingham.
Despite having a far inferior average, with a 94.10 to Littler’s 103.39, Price’s 54.55 per cent double success compared to Littler’s 23.08 per cent proved to be the difference.
Price held throw in the opening leg after Littler missed three darts on 28 and narrowly missed the bull to take out 132, but the Welshman returned to take a 2-0 lead following two more wasted double attempts from Littler.
A dream start for Gezzy saw him hold throw again, pinning tops to leave ‘The Nuke’ with a mountain to climb.
Littler attempted to kickstart his comeback by taking out 85 with Price way back in the 200s to get his first leg on the board. But Price fired back with a 123 out on the bull to lead 4-1.
After attempting to take out 120 with three darts at tops, Littler pinned his favourite D10 to half the deficit and duly broke throw in the following leg after a horror leg from Price.
Price then returned to take a 5-3 lead to move one leg away from victory and wrapped up the win with a 100 finish.
Price reached his second final of this year’s tournament after he beat Nathan Aspinall 6-3 in Dublin. ‘The Iceman’ inflicted more pain on a winless Stephen Bunting, winning the quarter-final 6-4 before putting Michael van Gerwen to the sword with a 6-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Littler made it to a hat-trick of night finals following his Brighton success as he beat World No.1 Luke Humphries in an enthralling night opening quarter-final tie. ‘The Nuke’ trailed 4-3 before he checked out 164 following a 180 setup shot to level the tie. Littler then reeled off the next two legs to secure a 6-4 victory.
The world champ later recorded a 107.82 average against Rob Cross in a 6-3 semi-final win. Littler took out 167 to level the clash at 2-2 before checking out 127 on the bull to go ahead. Cross would draw level at 3-3 as Littler again put his foot to the floor and raced to victory.
