Robbie Keane and Edgar Davids once came to blows during a Tottenham Hotspur training with the Irishman apparently sparked out Davids with ‘one punch’

Robbie Keane was quick to assert his authority at Tottenham

Robbie Keane and Edgar Davids were excellent team-mates, but they didn’t always see eye-to-eye.

The pair were part of Spurs’ last trophy winning side back in 2008 with Davids – who celebrated his 52nd birthday on Thursday – joining Spurs on a free transfer after making a name for himself at Milan, Juventus and Barcelona.

The pair reportedly were known for clashing in training shortly after the Dutchman arrived back in 2005, as both were determined to be the main man at Spurs.

They eventually came to blows following a training ground bust-up – and Keane, who was undergoing boxing training at the time, apparently sparked out Davids with ‘one punch’.

Jamie O’Hara was also part of Tottenham’s last trophy winning side, and thankfully he was there at the time to witness the bust-up, and revealed everything to talkSport.

“I tell you who had a bit about him – Robbie Keane,” he said. “I remember a story with him and Edgar Davids.

“We were at training and Davids came in from Inter Milan and he thought he was the bee’s knees. He thought he was the guy and the main man and everything, but everyone realised Robbie Keane was the main guy at Tottenham at that time.

“I remember him giving it to Keano in training and they were having a barney, and I think he tried to step to Robbie Keane and say something – and Keano just sparked him, bosh!

“He just went, bang – one punch. Gone. Then Davids has just picked himself up and walked off – and that was it.

“He came in the next day like, ‘morning, Robbie…’ Everyone knew – you don’t mess with Keano. He had that thing about him that if he switched he would put you straight out.”
