New recruits to Jeremy Clarkson’s boozer could be able to earn more at Wetherspoons after the TV star said his jobs were not for the ‘faint hearted’ or ‘lazy’.
The former Grand Tour and Top Gear star turned farmer and publican is looking for new staff to work at his Cotswolds bar, The Farmer’s Dog in Burford, Oxfordshire.
Clarkson’s countryside life has become a source of public fascination in recent years, with the 64-year-old’s Diddly Squat Farm, and Hawkstone beer highly publicised by smash-hit TV show Clarkson’s Farm.
But wages for the job vary, with younger members of staff in line for £7.55 an hour, less than people of the same age could earn at Wetherspoons.
For example one – called The Chief Justice of the Common Pleas – in Keswick, in the Lake District, is currently hiring bar staff with a set pay of £13.02 an hour.
The 18 and over role at the beloved chain boozer will solely focus on bar work.
Successful applicants at Clarkson’s boozer will have to balance pouring pints and ferrying dishes to tables in a ‘fast-paced environment’.
The new staff will have their work cut out for them with the pub expecting highs of 3,000 punters every day.
Candidates at Clarkson’s pub can earn up to £14 an hour in the role, as reported by NeedToKnow.
But the pay scale starts at £7.55.
The wage depends on age and experience.
The job advert states: “We’re on the hunt for some Front of House superstars to join our team for what is sure to be an unforgettable summer at The Farmer’s Dog.
“We need hardworking and ambitious staff, because we are going to be nothing short of busy, with highs of 3,000 people hitting the site every day.
“This is a bustling, busy boozer stocked with locally brewed Hawkstone beer & fresh seasonal food sourced directly from British farmers.
“We want this to be everything a pub should be.
“As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience.
“The ability to work under pressure in a high-volume setting.
“This is not a job for the faint hearted – it is very busy with no room for a lack-lustre or lazy approach.”
