Jake Paul responded to Gerwyn Price by offering the darts star a “blank cheque” for a boxing match.

Price had taken aim at Paul’s boxing ability in an interview last month, claiming he could knock the YouTuber out with just one punch.

After emulating fellow dart player Stephen Bunting in starting his own YouTube channel, Price was quizzed on talkSPORT about the possibility of taking on Paul if his subscriber count hits 100,000. The Welshman boldly promised a swift knockout.

“That’s easy, I look forward to that,” declared the ‘Iceman’. “He’s a YouTuber, he’s not a fighter, is he? I’ve got 999,000 followers to go. I think it would just be one punch, and it would be all over. Out cold. It would be a waste of money for people to tune in.

“He’ll never beat me in Wales. Nobody beats me in Wales. He’d probably beat Canelo but he’s not beating me, no.”

On the eve of the Premier League’s return to Cardiff, where he was beaten in the quarter-final by Rob Cross, Price reappeared on talkSPORT revealing that Paul privately messaged him to challenge him, telling Price to name his price to fight. “He’s seen it and messaged me,” Price said.

“He wrote back to me and said: ‘Come to Greece, man. Just name a price’. I don’t know why he’s in Greece.” When asked whether he has replied yet, Gezzy quipped: “I was a bit scared. No, I need to get some training in.”

Given his history as a professional rugby player, Price’s faith in his physical prowess is justified. Before being signed by the Glasgow Warriors, he played as a hooker for Neath and Cross Keys in Wales.

Price was training to fight in a charity boxing match in 2022, but he withdrew on medical advice after suffering a hand injury that saw him miss numerous PDC events, including the Premier League night in Brighton.
