Police set up a cordon around the supermarket which saw masked robbers break into the staff room of an Aldi and threaten workers before leaving with cash
An Aldi has been forced to close after masked robbers ransacked the store and left with cash. Nottinghamshire Police closed the Chatterley Parkway, near Holly Tree Farm, store and set up a cordon around it, leaving shoppers outside.
Detectives from the force are now investigating the incident in which shop workers were threatened by masked individuals. The perpetrators, who were wearing face coverings and dark clothing, broke into a staff area at the Aldi store shortly after 9.30 pm on Friday, March 21, as reported by NottinghamPost.
They then proceeded to threaten staff and demanded money out of the safe before leaving with a quantity of cash. Police said no-one was hurt during the incident.
Police searched the area following the report and investigators are continuing with their inquiries into the incident, including scouring CCTV footage.
Nottinghamshire Police have released the following statement: “Detectives are investigating and appealing for witnesses after shop workers were threatened by masked offenders during a robbery.
“A number of offenders, who were wearing face coverings and dark clothing, broke into a staff area at the Aldi store at Chatterley Parkway in Nottingham shortly after 9.30pm yesterday (Friday 21 March).
“They threatened staff and demanded money out of the safe before leaving with a quantity of cash.
“No-one was hurt during the incident.
“Police searched the area following the report and investigators are continuing with their inquiries into the incident, including scouring CCTV footage.”
Detective Sergeant Alana Scott, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our investigation is still in its very early stages, but we are using all available resources to track down those responsible as this must have been a frightening incident for staff in the store at the time.
“Officers remain in the area while they carry out inquiries into this isolated incident. If anyone has any concerns, please speak to an officer.”
