Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade sparked outrage after arguing that undocumented immigrants “don’t deserve” due process before being removed from the country.
Critics on social media slammed the remark as “chilling.”
During Monday’s episode of “Fox & Friends,” Kilmeade dismissed the feasibility of holding legal proceedings for the millions of undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.
“It’s not practical to think that we can do due process,” Kilmeade said while discussing President Donald Trump’s hard-line immigration policies. Trump vowed to deport millions during his 2024 campaign.
“If we are going to give these guys a day in court and a lawyer, we can’t do it. They don’t deserve it,” Kilmeade added. “Our system doesn’t need to be double burdened.”
Kilmeade’s comment sparked swift pushback.
Critics highlighted the Fifth and 14th amendments’ guarantees that no person shall be deprived of “life, liberty, or property, without due process of law” and warned how innocent people could now be caught up and mistakenly deported or removed from the country following Trump’s recent invocation of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 that skirts standard legal proceedings.
