As Celebrity Big Brother‘s start date looms, it’s been reported that a controversial former Conservative MP has ‘been offered a six-figure deal’ to enter the house.

Sir Michael Fabricant is the latest celebrity rumoured to enter the house when the show launches next month on ITV. Currently, bosses behind the programme have remained tight-lipped about the line-up which is rumoured to include a Coronation Street star, as well as a former EastEnders legend.

74-year-old, Sir Michael served as MP for Lichfield in Staffordshire from 1992 until 2024. He also worked as vice-Chairman under former Prime Minister, David Cameron. It won’t be the star’s first stint on reality TV, having starred in Celebrity First Dates for Stand Up To Cancer in 2017.

Speaking on his reported sign up, a source told MailOnline: “He doesn’t hold back, he’s going to be compulsive viewing, we can’t wait. We wanted a top politician but one with enormous personality which would entertain the viewers.

“He recently lost his seat so was available, already the execs are excited that he will be a star of the series.” The source also claimed that despite him not being ‘instantly recognisable’ he’s likely to stir things up by “starting debates in the house.”

One of the former MP’s most memorable controversial moments came in 2016, when he was forced to apologise after shouting out ‘b*****d’ loudly in the Commons chamber. It came after a discussion between MPs about the EU referendum. Fabricant was a supporter of Brexit.

He was also criticised during the Covid lockdown, after claiming that ‘quiet drinks’ were being enjoyed in the staff rooms of teachers and nurses.

The news comes after it was reported iconic housemate Tiffany Pollard would be making a return to the show. Unfortunately however, it won’t be as a housemate.

It’s claimed the American reality TV star is to feature on the show’s spin-off, Late & Live, nine years after her stunning reaction to David Bowie’s death, who she mistook for housemate, David Gest.

A source told The Sun: “There are no fans as passionate as those that love Big Brother and this booking’s one for them. Tiffany is a solid gold show legend and going to be brilliant on the Late & Live panel.”

The new series will kick off on April 7 and is rumoured to have a star studded line up including Coronation Street‘s Jack P. Shepherd and TOWIE’s Ella Wise.

The Mirror has contacted Big Brother for comment.
