Arsenal will be looking to strengthen their squad once the summer transfer window opens and Mikel Arteta is likely to be keen to get his business done early
Arsenal are likely to be in the throes of sketching out their game plan for the upcoming summer transfer window.
With Andrea Berta’s role as sporting director set to be rubber-stamped any day now, Mikel Arteta has some hefty calls to make on a host of potential signings, while juggling the Premier League title race with preparations for the Gunners’ huge Champions League double header with Real Madrid.
Names like Alexander Isak, Martin Zubimendi, Nico Williams and Joan Garcia have all been bandied about in connection with the Gunners and are tipped to stay on the radar, as Arteta looks to freshen up his squad, who have fallen 12 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Fresh news has surfaced on the last two while Arsenal are still in pole position to snap up Zubimendi from Real Sociedad once the transfer window swings open. As for Isak, given Newcastle’s hefty price tag, Arteta and Berta might need to scout elsewhere, with Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca emerging as a fresh option, reports Football London. Here’s the latest news from the Emirates.
Arsenal ‘leading El Khannouss race’
Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss has emerged as a player of interest to Arsenal.
The attacking midfielder has performed well given the Foxes’ poor season back in the Premier League and their impending relegation could see him depart for a bargain price.
According to Africa Foot, the Gunners are leading RB Leipzig and Lazio in the race for his signature. The Moroccan international has contributed to seven goals this season with one of his three strikes coming in a 2-1 win away at Tottenham.
Nico Williams latest
Arsenal have been handed a big Nico Williams transfer update.
Arteta is a keen admirer of the Athletic Club winger but as is Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick. According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, he would much rather bring Williams or Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman to Camp Nou over Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.
With Lookman all but guaranteed to seal a transfer this summer, the door could be opened for Williams to Arsenal if he joins Barcelona.
Moise Kean targeted
Fiorentina star Moise Kean is another striker to have been recently linked with Arsenal.
The former Everton star has rediscovered his best form while playing in Italy, with 15 goals from 26 games, and that has seen several Premier League clubs take note.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, scouts from the Gunners, Aston Villa and Tottenham are monitoring his progress ahead of a potential summer move. Newcastle United have also been linked.
Lorenzo Lucca interest
Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca has become quite the trending topic in recent days with Arsenal one club being linked to a transfer.
Having scored 10 goals in 28 appearances for his club, the 24-year-old is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including the Gunners.
Fellow Serie A side AC Milan have also been credited with an interest and with £25million rumoured to be his asking price, it is clear to see why a number of clubs are keeping tabs on his development.
Goalkeeper wanted
Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia remains the priority transfer target in goal for Arsenal.
With Arteta keen to offer David Raya some competition, especially as Neto will return to Bournemouth at the end of the season, Garcia is seen as the perfect No.2
According to the Athletic, he is also open to the move with the north Londoners having held some talks while over in Spain for their Champions League clash against Girona earlier this year.
