After a break-up she struck up conversation with a fellow school mum who invited her to train at the gym, and the pair now call themselves ‘muscle mummies’ and fell in love with working out
A woman who was encouraged to join a fellow school mum at the gym following a break-up has lost eight stone. At her biggest Kelly Wynne, 39, she tipped the scales at 19st 9lb and was wearing a clothing size 22.
After a break-up she struck up a conversation with fellow school mum Lucy Artiss, 41, who invited her to train together at the gym.
The pair call themselves “muscle mummies” and Kelly fell in love with working out – losing eight stone and dropping to 11st 9lb and a size 12-14. Kelly, from Rhydefelin, Wales, said: “I wanted to feel better and learn to love myself again.
“With Lucy’s amazing support, she helped me shift even more weight. We call ourselves the ‘muscle mummies’ and I’m in the best shape of my life.”
Kelly said she always had her weight under control, until falling pregnant with her first child aged 33 in 2017.
The weight continued to creep on when she welcomed her second child in 2019.
She said: “It piled on quickly – I put on five stone in three years.
“I was terrible with food. My portions could probably feed two.”
She now hopes to inspire others to lose weight.
She said: “I love helping people on their and motivating them.
“It took me a good year but I learnt to change my mindset.
“I don’t stop myself having treats but do it in moderation.
“It is possible to do it without fat-loss injections, and gastric surgery.
“Nothing against it but not everyone can afford it, and I feel like this has taught me the importance of exercise and a good diet.
“Now I can play with the kids and I got out with friends confidently.
“I’m stronger and happier in myself.”
The Daily Star reported earlier this month about a another UK muscle-mummy that might be the fittest postie in the world after a historic Ms Universe win in 2023.
Lucy Garland was a triathlon athlete but she had a serious road accident which left her with a serious injury. She then turned to strength training and begun a rapid rise through the body building ranks.
Lucy noted how her journey into body building started and said: “The guys at the gym said I had potential, so I researched bodybuilding and thought, ‘why not give it a try?”
She said her achievements are testament to the fact that hard work can achieve anything. She said: “It’s proof that with hard work, you can achieve anything.”
