Wayne Rooney was caught short as he got suited and booted for a lads night out. The Manchester United icon, 39, hit the town in a black suit and tie as he enjoyed a few hours at The Nest Rooftop bar in Marylebone, an exclusive bar that boasts a 360-degree view of the London skyline.

And the group would then leave Marylebone and head for the posh district of Mayfair as they settled in for dinner and more drinks at Novikov – defined as an upscale venue with two elegant dining rooms offering Asian and Italian cuisine.

The venue also has an extensive cocktail menu and hosts performances “by some of the world’s top DJs”.

Rooney was snapped leaving at around 2am, when he was caught short and had to dash to relieve himself against a wall. The former striker was in full view of passersby before he rejoined his group of mates.

Rooney has been out of work since being axed by Plymouth Argyle on New Years’ Eve following a torrid run of results.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Board of Plymouth Argyle Football Club, in particular Simon Hallett and Neil Dewsnip who I shared great relationships with,” Rooney said after leaving Plymouth rock bottom of the Championship.

“Thanks also to all the staff who made me feel welcome and who make the club such a special place, the players and fans for their efforts and support during my time as Head Coach and I wish them all the best for the future.

“To the Green Army thanks for making the games at Home Park so special, they are memories that we will share forever.

“Plymouth Argyle will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will continue to look out for and take interest in their results.”

Rooney has reappeared on UK TV screens in recent months, joining Amazon Prime for their coverage of the Champions League. While he had also been approached by Sky Sports and TNT Sports.
