Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause food poisoning, leading to symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, nausea and fever.

Symptoms typically appear between 12 to 72 hours after exposure.

If your symptoms are severe or persist for more than a week, you should seek medical advice.

The news comes after Asda and Waitrose issued an urgent recall after concerns were raised over glass fragments in a popular food item.

Kelly Loves’ sushi ginger was pulled from the shelves, and in-store notices were put up to warn shoppers about the recall and tell them what to do if they have already purchased the sushi ginger.

The Food Standards Agency warned: “If you have bought any of the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Sushi Daily kiosk for a refund. For further information, please contact Kelly Loves at: contact@kellyloves.com”.

Kelly Loves released a statement via the agency, saying: “Kelly Loves is recalling specific batch of SUSHI GINGER due to a potential risk of glass contamination.
